Robin Katcher strengthens organizations, leaders, and networks on the front lines of social change. Her deep experience in social justice movements – as an organizer, educator, legislative advocate, and board member – informs her rigorous approach to building powerful organizations, leaders, and networks.

Robin joined Management Asssistance Group (MAG; now Change Elemental) in 1999 and has held various roles during her tenure including Program Associate, Senior Consultant, and Deputy Director. She also served as Managing Director from 2010-2014. In 2015, Robin assumed a new role at Change Elemental as a Senior Program Advisor and Associate Consultant. In this new role, she works on programs like the Change Elemental Lab and continues to work with our clients.

Robin has consulted with hundreds of leaders, organizations, and networks including: American Civil Liberties Union; Land Trust Alliance; Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights; National Network of Abortion Funds; US Action; Diverse Elders Coalition; Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation’s College Ready Communities Initiative; Equally Blessed Coalition; Funders for Lesbian and Gay Issues; Hyde Working Group; Alliance for Children and Families; Citizen Action Wisconsin; Hope House; and Equality Maryland.

Robin has spearheaded Change Elemental’s work supporting and transforming social justice efforts to more effectively operate at the organizational level as well as at the leadership and network level in order to help build broad, long-term political power. She has led on the development of the Network Leadership Innovation Lab, a program of dialogue, analysis, and active learning to stimulate innovative thinking and identify ways to support leaders who operate at the intersection of organizations and networks.

Robin has also conducted important research on the role of networks in building strong social movements, published in Nonprofit Quarterly as “Unstill Waters: The Fluid Role of Networks in Social Movements.” She also co-authored Toward ‘Complex Adaptive Philanthropy’: Preliminary Learnings from the Network Leadership Innovation Lab and she is the lead author on many of Change Elemental’s other publications

Before joining Change Elemental, Robin held a variety of leadership positions across a range of social justice issues. She was the Legislative Director at the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence and a trainer for a Gill Foundation capacity building program for LGBTQ community organizations. She has served as a Founding Board Member for Jews United for Justice; Board Member of Bet Mishpachah (a synagogue serving the LGBTQ community); volunteer sex health educator for Whitman-Walker Clinic; and community ally of HERE Local 27, the DC parking lot attendants union.
