Monica Tyran (she/her/hers) joined Change Elemental in 2020 as the Program Coordinator. She supports our consulting and programmatic work.

Prior to joining Change Elemental, Monica worked as the Program Manager of the LANE (Leveraging a Network for Equity) initiative at the National Performance Network.  LANE was a 4-year initiative designed to support organizational health by strengthening infrastructure in ways that are aligned with culture and justice and redress the historic devaluation of arts organizations of color and rural organizations.  Since the development stage of the LANE initiative, Monica has engaged with collaborative decision-making and program development through thoughtful strategies for implementing systems and processes aligned with the values and vision of the LANE initiative.

For a little over a decade, Monica was in the arts administration field, starting her career at the youth arts program YAYA, Inc. (Young Aspirations Young Artists) based in New Orleans, LA.  She has developed programs to provide youth artists with leadership and relationship building trainings. Utilizing her background in visual arts, Monica has worked as a creative liaison to articulate and collaborate with graphic designers/artists to create in-print materials such as a theory of change, podcast logos, evaluation pillars, etc.

Born and raised in New Orleans, Monica has balanced her art practice in printmaking and work in arts administration throughout her career. She holds a B.A. in Visual Arts from Dillard University and an M.A. in Arts Administration from the University of New Orleans. Monica’s artwork has been exhibited at various locations including Dillard University, Louis Armstrong International Airport, Contemporary Art Center and Stella Jones Gallery.
